Objective

Summer Volunteer Program believes it is imperative for students to gain an understanding of the needs of the impoverished in India and the world.  It is with this objective in mind that the Summer Volunteer Program was established in 1999 to send students to learn valuable skills by working with non-profits throughout India.  The goals of the program are:

-Learn about the rich culture, history and diversity of India
-Understand the different health, education and social justice needs of the poor
-Experience the everyday challenges of running a non-profit in a developing country
-Equip volunteers with the skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to work for change for the
impoverished when they return
-Provide a dynamic life experience for students to develop as individuals
